Renewal of General Registration
Renewal Timeline
Registration year for the College is from November 1 to October 31.
The renewal timeline is as follows:
- September 15 - the renewal period starts
- October 15 - completed information required for renewal and renewal fees are due
- October 16 - 31 - renewal is still available, late fee applies
- November 1 - renewal no longer available, reinstatement process applies
Renewal Process
To renew your general registration with CCTPEI, please log into the HMS, and make sure to:
- Complete your continuing competency requirements
- Complete your currency hours information
- Pass the jurisprudence exam (first renewal only)
- Have a valid professional liability insurance proof in your profile
- Have a valid criminal record check (with vulnerable sector check) in your profile
- Pay the renewal fee (Fee Schedule)
Reinstatement of General Registration
If you have allowed your registration to lapse for less than three years, you may apply for reinstatement.
To be considered for reinstatement by the Registrar, you must log into the HMS, and:
- Update proof of renewed 2M liability insurance
- Have a valid criminal record check (with vulnerable sector check) in your profile
- Provide a letter from your employer regarding your currency requirements - you must meet the requirement of 750 currency hours of counselling therapy within the preceding 3 years, or have completed a refresher program approved by the council
- Pay the registration fee
- Pay the reinstatement fee
Please be aware that once all requirements are met, your reinstatement will be subject to Council approval, which may take 2 to 4 weeks.
